Burns: Symptoms and Treatment

Tissue damage like Blisters, Pain, Swelling, Peeling skin, and White or charred skin caused by heat, chemicals (cement, acids or drain cleaners), electricity, radiation, or the Sun (ultraviolet or UV light) is called Burns. Burn symptoms depend on the degree of the burn. There are different burns such as First degree, second-degree, and third-degree burns. First-degree burns are mild type burns like sunburns in which the top layer of skin (epidermis) turns red and is painful. Second-degree burns damage the top layer of skin (epidermis) and lower layers (dermis) with pain, redness, swelling, and blister while Third-degree burns damage all three skin layers epidermis, dermis, and fat. Third-degree burns destroy sweat glands, hair follicles, and nerve endings. Therefore Third-degree burns are life-threatening and require specialized medical care unit for patients
